Jamster and 88888 have raised the ire of another blog poster here at TechEye.net ( http://www.techeye.net/mobile/jamster-at-it-again-with-rip-off-phone-app ).

The blog poster goes onto say <em>"The industry regulator Phonepayplus is doing nothing to help as usual. The public can discover which company operates a particular text/SMS shortcode. But can you search to see how many times, the company has been fined? Of course, not."</em>

The more i learn about abuses in the industry the more I am drawn to towards the idea that PhonePayPlus needs to adopt a zero tolerance policy, which i have written about here ( http://www.aqa.63336.com/blog/mobile-regulation/zero-tolerance/ )

Couldn’t have put it better myself. Although PhonepayPlus have toughened up on subscription services it would seem the whole mobile billing and pricing disclosure model needs to be revisited.

There are certainly a lot of lemons in this industry but I found tomatoes to be a rich sauce of material for this subject.

Actually, I was following in the footsteps of Paul Whiteing, the CEO of PhonePayPlus, http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/output/The-board.aspx. At a recent conference he explained that premium rate price transparency was a key objective of PhonePayPlus and he too used the example of buying tomatoes at the supermarket to demonstrate what we should be striving to achieve.

What have you got against tomatoes? Why not lemons - surely this would be more appropriate?
